About me...
I am a social science researcher and scholar, who for the more than 10 years conducted research within education systems across the US and the Caribbean. I received a Ph.D. in Education Research with emphasis in research, measurement, and statistics. My primary focus centers around the development and validation of educational and psychological assessments and measurement tools. I frequently use classical test theory and item response theory techniques to uncover the psychometric properties of these tools. My experience includes designing, leading, and managing large scale surveys, some within the context of program evaluation. My current role is Associate Professor of Education (quantitative research methods) in a large public university where I facilitate the development and training of graduate students in their Ph.D. program in education. More recently, I've been engaged in opportunities to address educational research questions through critical lenses, employing critical quantitative methodologies to empower and liberate minoritized populations. When not wrapped up in the rigor of the academy and supporting educational institutions to better do what they do - exploring the psychometric properties of educational tools, I coach youth travel soccer, and occasionally I still or play, just for the beauty of the game.
